With 2 laps to go I gained 2nd place and then proceeded into an epic battle with Jason English for the silver medal. Aussies got 1,2,3,4 and smashed the world in 24 hour mountain biking. In total I completed 16 laps of the grueling course in pouring rain and massive thunderstorms, climbing over 35,000ft in the process. The specific training and preparation leading up to the event paid dividends and I produced the best race possible. The power data from the event has also lead to some very interesting findings and will help further refine my training and preparation for next year. read more> |
| ▼ Upcoming Camp World Cup Mt Stromlo 2008 Well well what a course the Stromlo World Cup course is. I was able to get there yesterday for 5 laps of the toughest, most techo but most fun course I have ridden for a long time. The new climb called Cardiac Climb is totally gangbusters and with my Powertap I was able to look into the real demands in terms of power needed to climb it. I averaged around 450 - 550 watts on the climb and it is followed by a super techo descent that is a real test when you have been on the rivet and in oxygen dept. Both the climb and the descent have multiple line options and are a masterpiece of trail building, well done CORC. Statistics for the 5 laps were an average power of 210 watts with a normalized power of 290 watts with an obviously very high variability index. It is a good job that I have been focusing a bit on VO2 and supra maximal efforts on my MTB since returning from Canada.. read more> |

| Testimonial "Mark has been fantastic help in working with me to set my short and medium term cycling goals, and developing a plan on how we are going to achieve them. He has provided me with versatile training programs and advice, that sets in place what I need to do to achieve my goals, whilst allowing for flexibility to cater for the unexpected and the fact that I also work full time, and can't train the house down whenever I want. I spent a few years training and racing without a coach, but the guidance and advice Mark has provided me has certainly meant my cycling has stepped up to where I want it to be, and I look forward to the ongoing support."
